Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović met today with Anžej Frangeš, Special Envoy of the Republic of Slovenia for the Western Balkans.

During the meeting, it was noted that Montenegro and Slovenia, in addition to their friendly relations and bilateral cooperation, share common values and a commitment to security, stability, and peace as NATO member states.

Minister Ibrahimović expressed gratitude to Slovenia for its ongoing political and expert support in Montenegro's reform processes, as well as for its active role in promoting the European perspective of the Western Balkans. Slovenia has played a key role in Montenegro's Euro-Atlantic integration and continues to be our reliable partner in the reforms on the path towards EU membership, as well as a strong advocate for a European future, Ibrahimović said. He emphasised that the current government is determined, with the help of friendly and partner countries, to meet the remaining obligations from the European agenda as quickly as possible.

Frangeš, Slovenia's Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, stated that the policy of European enlargement is alive, and the Western Balkans belongs in the Union. He highlighted that receiving IBAR is not just good news for Montenegro but also for all those engaged in the reform and integration process.

The two officials reflected on the dynamic economic cooperation between the two countries and the strong presence of Slovenian companies in Montenegro. They noted that there is further potential for deepening relations in tourism, internal affairs, science, and healthcare.

In discussing multilateral relations, Minister Ibrahimović reminded of Montenegro's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council, stating that Slovenia's current membership offers additional encouragement and inspiration for Montenegro, as well as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the two countries further.
