Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović met today in Podgorica with President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Serkan Kayalar, who is visiting Montenegro.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that TIKA plays a crucial role in strengthening relations between Montenegro and Türkiye, significantly contributing to the development of bilateral cooperation.

Since the opening of its office in Podgorica in 2007, TIKA has implemented approximately 500 development projects, with a total value exceeding 20 million euros.

Minister Ibrahimović stated that "TIKA is part of the success story of Montenegro-Türkiye relations," highlighting the agency’s presence across all regions of Montenegro through its various projects. He noted that this dynamic cooperation is complemented by an intensive high-level political dialogue, further reaffirming both countries' commitment to fostering and advancing friendly relations.

He also underlined the importance of cooperation in education and culture, as well as the potential for new projects in transport infrastructure. The best testament to our countries' cooperation is action—successful operations of Turkish companies in Montenegro and the growing interest in new investments. All of this contributes to strengthening economic and overall interstate ties, Ibrahimović stated.

TIKA President Kayalar noted that, since his last visit to Montenegro four years ago, cooperation between Türkiye and Montenegro has been steadily progressing. He emphasized that the increasing number and significance of successfully implemented projects across various municipalities in Montenegro serve as the best indicator of both countries' commitment to collaboration and deepening bilateral ties.

Our goal was to reach every corner of Montenegro, and we have succeeded, said Kayalar, expressing gratitude to the Government of Montenegro for its support and strong partnership. He also noted that TIKA completed 35 projects in Montenegro last year, with an even more ambitious plan set for 2025. We are particularly pleased that these projects directly improve the everyday lives of citizens, he added.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation, as well as Türkiye’s dedication to promoting stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans.
