Ibrahimović, Lipavský: Czech Republic a strong friend and partner, firm support for Montenegro's EU integration

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Lipavský, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro. 

The meeting reaffirmed the Czech Republic’s strong support for Montenegro’s integration into the European Union, as well as both countries’ commitment to continuously strengthening their bilateral cooperation. 

Both sides expressed their dedication to further enhancing friendly relations and high-level political dialogue. 

Minister Ibrahimović expressed gratitude to the Czech Republic for its unwavering and consistent support for Montenegro’s EU integration process.

The Czech Republic, as our true friend, recognizes the geostrategic importance and necessity of a clear European perspective for the Western Balkans. This is the best and most secure path toward long-term stability and prosperity for both the region and Europe, he stated. 

The strong alliance between Montenegro and the Czech Republic within NATO was also highlighted.

In a time of growing global challenges, working together to preserve our alliance, stability, and security is of essential importance. Montenegro remains a committed and reliable ally, Ibrahimović emphasized. 

Minister Lipavský commended the excellent relations between the Czech Republic and Montenegro, noting that “our two friendly countries and allies share common values, goals, and interests.” He expressed satisfaction with the pace of high-level political dialogue and pointed to numerous opportunities for further strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as tourism, economy, defence, and cybersecurity. 

Reaffirming the Czech Republic’s firm support for Montenegro’s European path, Minister Lipavský underscored that “Montenegro’s EU membership is a shared interest.” He emphasized the importance of continued reforms in key areas, stressing that the Czech Republic will continue advocating for a gradual, merit-based accession process while providing expert and political support to facilitate Montenegro’s EU integration. 

The meeting also addressed opportunities to enhance economic cooperation, with a particular focus on creating favorable conditions for closer ties between Montenegrin and Czech business communities. 

The two officials also exchanged views on current regional and global challenges and expressed satisfaction with the progress of bilateral relations. They voiced confidence that cooperation between Montenegro and the Czech Republic will further deepen in the coming period, to the benefit of both nations and their citizens.
