European integration remains Montenegro’s key priority. With strong support from Germany and other partners, Montenegro remains committed to closing negotiation chapters during 2025 and sustaining the reform momentum until full accession to the European Union, stated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović during his meeting with Germany’s Special Envoy for the Countries of the Western Balkans Manuel Sarrazin.

Minister Ibrahimović emphasized that Montenegro highly values Germany’s continuous political and expert support in the European integration process, particularly in light of the country’s goal to become an EU member by 2028.

Montenegro has the necessary capacities to finalize its European integration process, as evidenced by the significant progress made over the past year, the Minister noted. He added that, at this stage, support from Brussels partners is crucial to further strengthening reform efforts and ensuring steady progress toward EU membership.

Special Envoy Sarrazin commended Montenegro’s reform efforts, reaffirming that Germany will continue to provide full political and expert support on its European path. He stressed the importance of maintaining reform momentum, highlighting that consistency and efficiency in implementing reforms will be decisive factors in the further negotiation process.

The two officials also exchanged views on the significance of regional cooperation and good neighbourly relations. They agreed that the region's continued progress depends on sustained dialogue, mutual understanding, and collaboration in the spirit of European values.
