Ivanović: Innovation is the key to sustainable development and regional prosperity
Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović attended the Butterfly Innovation Award Ceremony, organized by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) in Podgorica. The event brought together leading innovators from the Western Balkans to celebrate groundbreaking projects that promote creativity, sustainability, and collaboration in key sectors.
In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović highlighted the critical role of innovation, cooperation, and sustainability for the region's future.
These projects are not only innovative but also sustainable, which is key to long-term success. You exemplify how talent and effort can overcome even the greatest challenges, he said.
The Regional Butterfly Innovation Forum, held alongside the awards ceremony, brought together experts, policymakers, and business representatives to discuss trends in artificial intelligence, green technologies, and innovation-driven competitiveness. Ivanović praised the RCC's efforts in organizing the event and underscored the importance of regional collaboration.
The Western Balkans has immense potential, but to realize it, we must work together, share knowledge, and exchange experiences. Only through joint efforts can we ensure a future where our region becomes synonymous with innovation and opportunity, he added.
The Butterfly Innovation Award honored six teams from Montenegro, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and North Macedonia. The winners will receive not only financial rewards but also opportunities to promote their projects through the RCC network and media, amplifying their impact on regional development.
The event was organized as part of the Action Plan for the Common Regional Market, with support from the European Union.
