Joković meets World Bank Country Manager for Montenegro
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Joković held a consultative meeting with a World Bank delegation, led by World Bank Country Manager for Montenegro Christopher Sheldon. The meeting discussed the Montenegro Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for the period of 2022-2026.
The aim of the meeting was to jointly consider and identify priorities, which are in line with Montenegro's development goals and at the same time represent areas in which the World Bank's involvement will have the greatest impact.
Mr. Sheldon congratulated Minister Joković on his appointment and expressed belief that the Ministry will continue successful implementation of current World Bank projects during his term of office.
Minister Joković stressed good results of previous World Bank projects in the field of agriculture and rural development, which helped Montenegro in the process of opening Chapter 11. He also stressed the importance of the current MIDAS 2 project aimed at supporting Montenegro in fulfilling benchmarks for chapters 11, 12 and 13, as well as the Sava and Drina Rivers Corridors Programme, which envisages the construction of multifunctional embankments on the Lim and Grnčar rivers.
The World Bank intends to provide support to Montenegro to improve its economic resilience, as well as to ensure more efficient environmental management in order to achieve sustainable growth.
