Marović: Happy Europe Day and I hope that next year we will be one step closer to the EU

Happy Europe Day and Victory Day over Fascism, when we are reminded of why it is important to persevere along our path of European integration. I hope that next year we will be one step closer to the family of European countries, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs Jovana Marović on the occasion of 9 May.

In the video message, she congratulated the citizens of Montenegro on Europe Day, which marks the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, the day when we should remind ourselves of the values on which the EU is based and persevere along the path of unity, solidarity and respect for diversity.

Marović emphasised that, although we celebrate 9 May as the day when fascism was defeated, we still have to fight against everything that represents fascism, against all fascist outbursts, and that it is our obligation to the European Union and on the European path.

This year, we are celebrating Europe Day marked by Russia's aggression against Ukraine, so we need to turn to true values even more. Right now, all citizens of Europe, all EU countries and the Western Balkan countries should demonstrate unity, coordinated actions and shared values, Marović said.

As she said, Europe Day is always an opportunity to look back on what has been done in the process of European integration.

A lot has been done on a technical level, and the results are yet to come. This Government truly has a clear commitment to deliver those results for the benefit of all citizens, Marović concluded.
