Minister without Portfolio Zoran Miljanić met Ambassador of the Slovak Republic Boris Gandel. The two officials agreed that there are many similarities in the processes that followed in the post-communist period in Montenegro and the Slovak Republic, especially when it comes to challenges such as the fight against high-level corruption faced by the two countries.

Speaking about the priorities of the 43rd Government of Montenegro, Minister Miljanić said that preparations were underway for the drafting of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, with the aim of establishing a systemic framework that would contribute to the efficiency of institutions.

He also emphasised that the second important step is to form the National Council for the Fight against Corruption and more efficient cooperation of all Montenegrin institutions in that field.

Ambassador Gandel said that he believes that in the current circumstances, Montenegro has been given a great opportunity to join the EU, and that it is up to its institutions to use this opportunity.

Miljanić expressed exectation that political structures in the Parliament of Montenegro, which did not vote for the 43rd Government, would support decisions that will contribute to more efficient work of institutions, rule of law and success of the negotiation process.

Given that his country has significant experience in this field, Ambassador Gandel offered the help of Slovak experts in drafting the National Anti-Corruption Strategy.
