Minister Mitrović meets with Serbian Minister Tomislav Momirović
Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism Ratko Mitrović met today with Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Momirović. The meeting discussed improvement of cooperation between the two countries in the field of spatial planning and urbanism, as well as traditionally important issues of transport and infrastructure.
Momirović expressed satisfaction that he has the opportunity to host Minister Mitrović and a delegation of the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, emphasising that good neighbourly relations in the region are of great importance for Serbia, especially because of the close relationship between Serbia and Montenegro.
The ministers agreed on further activities at the operational level, which would result in the signing of an agreement on cooperation between Montenegro and Serbia in the field of spatial planning and urbanism.
"Space is the most important resource we have and it is very important how we will manage it. One of the priorities of the Ministry is the establishment of a national space information system, which is a necessary precondition for developing better spatial plans and Montenegroʹs obligations towards the European Union, in accordance with the INSPIRE Directive," said Minister Mitrović.
He emphasised that the Ministry has a serious job to do, in cooperation with public companies, local governments and professional institutions, to establish a database that will be used not only by planners, but also by other professions and institutions, and which will provide comprehensive information on space as a centralised system.
"Additional training is needed for this job. In that sense, the exchange of experience with Serbia and institutions in Serbia that deal with spatial planning and urbanism are very useful for us," Mitrović said.
The meeting also discussed economic relations and the implementation of infrastructure projects that will enable regional conncectivity.
