National Security Council holds it second session
The National Security Council convened its second session during which the current security situation was deliberated upon, alongside a significant volume of materials and information, the majority of which pertained to the implementation of the resolutions adopted during the Council's inaugural session.
The Council noted that the security situation in the country remains stable and that all intelligence and security sector agencies will redouble their efforts in combatting organised crime and corruption, as well as in preserving peace and security.
The Council issued Guidelines for the Operations of the Intelligence and Security Directorate of the Ministry of Defence for 2024-2025, outlining the objectives and priorities in the planning, development, and implementation of military intelligence, counterintelligence, and security operations within the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Montenegro, covering a specific time frame.
Discussion revolved around the draft Strategy for Responding to Hybrid Threats 2024-2028, accompanied by a draft Action Plan for the Strategy's implementation, and initiated procedures regarding amendments to the Decision on the establishment of an inter-agency commission to counter hybrid threats. This commission will be responsible for drafting the Strategy and monitoring the implementation of action plans.
At the session, full support was given to the competent institutions in all activities aimed at combating organised crime, particularly in uncovering collusion between organised criminal groups and members of the security sector.
