National Security Council holds its third session
The National Security Council held its third session today, chaired by Prime Minister Dritan Abazović. The Council discussed cyberattacks, activities aimed at tackling smuggling of excise goods – cigarettes, as well as an analysis of activities undertaken to combat malign Russian influence in Montenegro.
Minister of Public Administration Marash Dukaj and Acting General Director of the Directorate for Infrastructure Dušan Polović informed the National Security Council about the Report on the work of the Council for Information Security, in the context of a continuous cyberattack that primarily affected the government's IT structure. The Council concluded that it i necessary to wait for the final reports of foreign experts and partners in order to determine with certainty who is behind the attacks.
The National Security Council discussed activities aimed at tackling smuggling of excise goods- cigarettes. The Council gave full support to Supreme State Prosecutor's Office and Special State Prosecutor's Office to investigate every case of smuggling of excise goods – cigaretters, both in the previous period and now.
The Director of the National Security Agency informed the Council about the activities aimed at suppressing Russian and other foreign malign influence in our country.
At the proposal of President of the Council and Prime Minister Abazović, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Raško Konjević was relieved of his duties as coordinator of the Operations Coordination Bureau because the Bureau has not been constituted since May, when DPM Konjević was appointed coordinator.
Acting Supreme State Prosecutor Maja Jovanović, Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novović, and Acting General Director of Directorate for Infrastructure Dušan Polović attended the session, in accordance with Article 6 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Security Council.
The National Security Council consists of the President of the Council and following members: Deputy Prime Minister for Political System and Internal Policy and Minister of Defence Raško Konjević, Minister of Justice Marko Kovač, Minister of the Interior Filip Adžić, Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ranko Krivokapić, Acting Diretor of the National Security Agency Savo Kentera, Chairperson of Security and Defence Committee of the Montenegrin Parliament Milan Knežević, Deputy Chairperson of Security and Defence Committee of the Montenegrin Parliament Mevludin Nuhodžić.
