PM Krivokapić extends congratulations on Day of Journalists of Montenegro
Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić extended congratulations on the occasion of the Day of Journalists of Montenegro – 23 January.
It is expected from all state institutions and all social factors, that in every moment of their activities, especially public, they have in mind the position and importance of the mission of journalists.
Time has proven that no sacrifice in the past has been in vain, but also that every government and the entire community must be aware of their own share of responsibility for the weight of the sacrifice made by journalists. Since we know the names of all those who selflessly and fearlessly, socially responsibly approached their work obligations, we have no right to ever give up personalizing guilt, finding and naming those who committed crimes against humanity, against journalists, their spoken and written words.
Our harshest condemnations of all incidents and wrongdoers that attack the dignity, honor and integrity of journalists, are not mere words. As a society we owe great gratitude to the profession and professionals for all that they have achieved with their courage, their research ambitions, precision and perseverance. Their role was and remains irreplaceable and we are obliged to strengthen it as a society and provide it with better material and technical conditions, as well as a more precise legal framework.
The journalism sector will also feel the benefits of the Europe Now programme, which will make it possible to strengthen the position of reliable witnesses of our complex reality. The implementation of this project directly strengthens the position of all employees in Montenegro, including journalists, and regardless of all turbulent social processes, I am convinced, the Programme is just the beginning of improvement of prosperity of all citizens.
Once again, I congratulate you on your Day, with a sincere desire and effort to truly stay on the only right path - to a European, prosperous Montenegro, which does not tolerate compromises which would endanger democracy, the will of the majority and freedom, the Prime Minister's congratulatory letter reads.
