PM Krivokapić meets with EU Commissioner Varhelyi
Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić met today in Podgorica with European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi.
A batch of 2,340 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine out of a total of 42,000, financed by the European Union and delivered with the support of Austria, has arrived in Montenegro. Prime Minister Krivokapić thanked the EU for its selfless support to Montenegro in the fight against COVID-19. Krivokapić said that Montenegro remains committed to reforms on the road to the EU.
Prime Minister Krivokapić emphasised that the European values should be an integral part of Montenegrin society. The Prime Minister pointed out that the Government is committed to Montenegro being a state of social justice and civil society, which strives for economic stability and financial sustainability.
The European Commissioner stressed the importance of the new methodology of negotiations, saying that the EU expects progress from Montenegro in the area of the rule of law, which, as he emphasised, will be in the special focus of European partners.
In addition to the health situation, the meeting also discussed the Chinese loan, as well as prosecutorial laws. Várhelyi expressed his gratitude to the Government for the steps and efforts taken, in order to obtain and harmonise opinions with the Venice Commission.
