PM Krivokapić meets with WHO Regional Director for Europe

Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić met today with WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge, on the sidelines of the Summit of the Heads of Government of the Central European Initiative (CEI) in Budva.

Prime Minister Krivokapić welcomed Dr. Kluge and said that his attendance meant a lot to everyone, and that it was proof of his commitment to Montenegro and its processes. The Prime Minister thanked for the help provided by the WHO to Montenegro in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that he wanted to enhance cooperation.

The Prime Minister said that Montenegro must start reforming the health system, in order to improve the quality of health services. He pointed out that European standards should exist in the whole of Montenegro.

Since we are the Government that has embarked on the path of reform, then we want that path, in addition to the economy, to be the most important in health and education, and to put things in the right places, to make it easier for ourselves and others. It is, of course, a demanding job that requires enormous commitment and expertise, but the sooner we start that job, the sooner we will finish it. That is why your experience and knowledge are of great benefit to us, said Prime Minister Krivokapić.

Dr. Kluge congratulated the Prime Minister on the successful chairmanship of the CEI and expressed the expectation that the next member, Bulgaria, will continue with the successful implementation of the initiative. He supported the reform processes taking place in Montenegro, in particular the Europe Now programme and the initiative to improve the financial protection of citizens when using health services. Dr. Kluge said that the WHO expects full commitment to the implementation of the Roadmap for Health and Well-being in the Western Balkans.
