PMQs - PM Krivokapić: Government has shown that it is making maximum efforts to find a way to help citizens and the economy
Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić said that the unpredictable dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic brought the entire Montenegrin society, both citizens and the economy, into an extremely difficult situation.
"But that is not the only problem. Last year, we had only 15 percent of the tourist season. Is it the result of this Government or our predecessors? Why don't we ask ourselves that? In order to preserve the dignity of citizens and to ensure the functioning of the economy as much as possible, we have made two packages of measures; the first, which was valid until the end of March, and the second, which is valid from the beginning of April. This support is intended for the most vulnerable categories of the population, namely the largest number of Montenegrin citizens; support for maintaining employment levels and new employment; improving the liquidity of economic entities; creating conditions for increasing the number of tourists; stability of the market of agricultural products," Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić said to Boris Bogdanović from the MP Group "Democrats - Demos - Peace is Our Nation".
Prime Minister Krivokapić said that this package of measures covered almost 100 thousand citizens, with a clearly defined amount for each category.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the number of requests submitted by the economy was almost 80 thousand, and that 348,322 salaries were subsidized, which amounts to about 85 million euros. The Prime Minister, among other things, said that the Government is doing everything to ensure safety for tourists coming to Montenegro.
Through continuous support measures, the Government has once again shown that it is making maximum efforts to find a solution that will help citizens and the economy to overcome the negative consequences of the pandemic by providing financial resources that will further help preserve standard of living and economic potential, PM Krivokapić concluded.
