Prime Minister meets with Director of Airports of Montenegro and representatives of easyJet: Affordable flights from Tivat to six destinations over seven months in 2025
The British low-cost airline easyJet will connect Tivat Airport with six destinations during the upcoming tourist season: London Luton, London Gatwick, Berlin, Manchester, Bristol, and Geneva.
This was announced following a meeting between the airline's management, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, and Executive Director of Airports of Montenegro Roko Tolić.
We have ambitious plans to improve Montenegro’s air connectivity. In the coming period, we will make strategic decisions about the future of our airports and enhance their infrastructure. We want credible partners. Our goal is to make Montenegro a significantly more accessible and competitive air destination, said Prime Minister Spajić.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of easyJet’s affordable flights operating over an extended season, from early spring to late October.
Seven months of flights is a strategic objective for Montenegro’s tourism sector, breaking away from the traditional three-month peak season model, noted Prime Minister Spajić.
Representatives of easyJet reported a significant increase in passenger traffic in Montenegro, from over 71,000 passengers in 2023 to over 132,000 in 2024.
The Executive Director of Airports of Montenegro shared projections for the coming year.
The British low-cost carrier easyJet, one of the largest in the world, has experienced growth of approximately 200% in Tivat since the end of the pandemic. For the six routes announced this summer, nearly 200,000 seats will be available to potential passengers. Additionally, they have expressed their willingness to discuss a future expanded network of destinations with us, Tolić explained.
Today's meeting with one of the company's leaders, Gary Butler, is part of a broader set of measures Airports of Montenegro is implementing to ensure improved connectivity for Montenegro in the coming years, which both citizens and the Government expect from the Airports of Montenegro, Tolić added.
We are actively working with our aviation partners to secure as many routes as possible for the upcoming tourist season. We also greatly appreciate Prime Minister Spajić’s recognition of the significance of this visit, alongside the Ministry of Transport, which approved amendments to the Incentive Scheme to make the Airports of Montenegro more attractive and draw additional traffic, emphasized Tolić.
The Prime Minister and the management of Airports of Montenegro are confident that, in synergy with the Ministry of Tourism, the National Tourism Organization, and the business sector, the outlined objectives will be achieved.
In 2024, Airports of Montenegro achieved record results, serving close to 2.9 million passengers—a 15% increase compared to the previous year and 8% higher than in 2019.
