Prime Minister Spajić meets with Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos

The closure of negotiation chapters by Montenegro demonstrates full commitment to the country’s European integration, while the European Union reaffirms its dedication to the enlargement policy, it was highlighted during the meeting between Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.

This year ends with Montenegro achieving unprecedented progress on its European path. Even more intense efforts lie ahead in 2025 and 2026, said Prime Minister Spajić.

Commissioner Kos congratulated Prime Minister Spajić and his team on their tireless work in implementing reforms aligned with the EU agenda.

She emphasized that the European Commission stands firmly with Montenegro and all countries dedicated to fulfilling the reforms necessary for EU membership. She noted that enlargement represents a renewed historic opportunity to achieve peace and prosperity across the entire European continent.

The two officials also discussed Montenegro’s bilateral relations with EU member states. Commissioner Kos expressed her full support for resolving outstanding issues and accelerating the country’s EU accession process.

The Enlargement Commissioner announced that Montenegro will be the first Western Balkan country she visits, with a trip planned for January 2025.
