EU enlargement is a reality: Montenegro must seize this opportunity with full focus on the enlargement process
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić met with the EU Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Miroslav Lajčák, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Lajčák congratulated Montenegro on the closing of three negotiation chapters, with the main topic of discussion being the next steps on Montenegro’s path toward European integration.
The EU Special Representative emphasized that it is now clear the EU enlargement process is alive again, and the key question is how to make the most of the current window of opportunity.
The meeting included an in-depth discussion on the current political situation in Montenegro and the importance of stability in delivering the ambitious EU agenda. Both sides highlighted the need for Parliament to support the Government’s efforts in the integration process to ensure that all chapters are closed by 2026.
It was concluded that Montenegro must remain fully focused on its European integration goals.
