Spajić meets with De Croo

During his official visit to Brussels, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić met with Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo.

The importance of Belgium's presidency of the Council of the EU for all Western Balkan states was highlighted during the talks, emphasising Belgium's special focus on integrating new members. In this regard, the significance of maximizing the opportunities offered by the Growth Plan was underscored.

We greatly appreciate the additional support through the Growth Plan, and we believe it will stimulate the necessary reforms to continue the true integration path. It is also a positive message to our citizens that the accession process generates deep economic integration, leading to an improved quality of life, said Prime Minister Spajic, adding:

We increasingly recognise the support of our European partners, who trust that this Government can make decisive reforms through political stability achieved through inclusive and constructive political dialogue.

The Prime Minister of Belgium emphasised that his country advocates for Montenegro's swift accession to the EU, highlighting the significant achievements made through the excellent collaboration between the 44th Government and the Parliament.

I am extremely satisfied with the European commitment of the new Government and with everything you have achieved in a few months. I hope that during our presidency, you will accomplish even more. Regarding the region, you have set the negotiation bar high, and we must congratulate you on that, stated De Croo, sending a strong message: "At one point, there were 28 member states; there will be 28 again at some moment".

Prime Minister Spajić responded: "We hope to achieve this by 2028".

The meeting focused on enhancing economic cooperation. Prime Minister Spajić briefed his counterpart on a series of initiated reforms, particularly in tax policy, aimed at creating a more business-friendly environment.

It was acknowledged that there is ample room for investments in the energy sector, transportation infrastructure, agriculture, and the food industry.
