Spajić meets with Ursula von der Leyen: Promises made on day one, fulfilled on day 100
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Montenegro on significant progress achieved in European integration during the first 100 days of the Government.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Milojko Spajić in Brussels, Ursula von der Leyen highlighted that excellent results have been achieved through outstanding cooperation between the Government and the Parliament.
We met in Podgorica on the first day of the new Government. Now, 100 days later, it is wonderful to see Montenegro fully focused on its accession goal, making good progress, von der Leyen stated.
The President of the European Commission emphasised that judicial appointments and numerous other reforms are a clear indication that Montenegro is eager to take the final step towards the European family.
In the context of an accelerated path towards the EU, it was assessed that chapters 23 and 24 must remain a priority.
Prime Minister Spajić reminded that during the meeting with von der Leyen on the first working day of the 44th Government, he promised that the parliamentary majority would deliver results from the European agenda and expressed satisfaction that significant successes can already be discussed after 100 days.
He added that this is just the beginning, and Montenegro will continue to work on reforms.
It was noted that political stability, constructive and inclusive dialogue with the opposition are the right ways to continue with accelerated progress on the EU path.
In this context, it is also crucial that this approach has led to depolarization of society.
Discussions also focused on Montenegro's economic convergence, specifically on ways to achieve accelerated economic development to reach EU countries in that field.
