Von der Leyen - Spajić: Montenegro has a pro-Euro-Atlantic Government and a stable political majority to implement the necessary reforms
The most important task of the Government is to deliver results from the European agenda and meet the expectations of citizens regarding EU membership, is the conclusion of the meeting between the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić, with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who is staying in Montenegro today as part of her visit to the region.
Montenegro has a pro-Euro-Atlantic Government and a stable political majority that will contribute to the closing of the most important negotiation chapters and speed up the necessary reforms in all branches of power, Prime Minister Spajić said.
In the context of meeting the requirements for membership, the interlocutors assessed that the priority activities are appointments in the judicial branch of power, strengthening media freedom and the fight against corruption and organized crime.
At the meeting, the administrative support of the European Union in terms of better absorption of EU funds, strengthening of infrastructure, traffic connectivity and Montenegro's access to the single European market were discussed.
Prime Minister Spajić thanked the President of the European Commission for her support and said that the European Union is the most important geostrategic and economic partner of the 44th Government, and that a greater presence of the European Union in the region is a prerequisite for building resilience to other influences.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Internal Policy, European and Foreign Affairs - Aleksa Bečić, MSc, Minister of European Affairs - Maida Gorčević, Minister of Foreign Affairs - Filip Ivanović, PhD and Minister of Energy and Mining - Prof. Saša Mujović, PhD.
