Published on: Jul 30, 2024 9:32 AM

CIRT warns citizens of a clickbait campaign that's currently active on social networks. The campaign involves the misuse of the visual identity of the Red Cross of Montenegro. A banner is circulating on social networks featuring a photo of the Red Cross along with the text "Adopted social program - HELP for citizens of Montenegro with joint pain."

We kindly ask users to take extra precautions and follow these guidelines:

  • If you encounter this banner on social networks, do not click on it and refrain from entering any personal information.
  • Avoid making payments on suspicious websites.
  • Refrain from opening links from suspicious messages on social networks.
  • Carefully read the content of messages, as phishing messages often contain grammatical errors.

Clickbait campaigns use sensational headlines and images to lure users into clicking, often leading to sites with unverified or false content.

Please note that a reputable institution will not request users to disclose confidential information or submit documents via social networks.

If your data is misused, you can report the incident via e-mail: kontakt@cirt.me or by filling out a form on the CIRT website: https://www.gov.me/cirt/prijavi-incident
