Podgorica, Montenegro (28 January 2015) -- Hungary will continue supporting Montenegro’s efforts to get a NATO membership invitation in the final stage of the Euro-Atlantic accession process, Permanent Representative of Hungary to NATO Peter Sztáray stressed at the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Duško Marković.

Ambassador Sztáray said that in the process of intensified and focused dialogue the key point for Montenegro is maintaining good communication with NATO member states at the political level, adding that Hungary as NATO contact point embassy in Montenegro will have an active role in that important process.

DPM Marković highlighted that Montenegro’s key foreign policy goal is to get an invitation letter by the end of 2015, not only because of strengthening the national security and safety which will boost the economic growth and increase the level of living standard of citizens, but also to ensure the overall stability and safety of the entire region and Europe.

DPM Marković informed Ambassador Sztáray about the results achieved in creating a suitable legislative framework aimed at strengthening the rule of law and reform of judiciary, as well as establishing of the Council for National Security and Bureau for Coordination of Security Services whose main task is synchronisation and binding of security sector institutions in order to response more efficiently to global threats which could have consequences in the region and to combat organised crime and corruption effectively.
