Abazović: Children showed creative side of Montenegro
The future of Montenegro and its education is to move towards greater technological literacy and that, using modern technologies, we work with our youngest ones to adequately prepare them for the future. Today, the children showed the creative side of Montenegro, said Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, who opened today's event organised by the British Council on the occasion of the five-year educational programme "21st Century Schools" and the project "21st Century Teacher".
Before the opening of the event, H.E. Karen Maddocks, British Ambassador to Montenegro, Peter Brown, Director Western Balkans at British Council, Vanja Madžgalj, Director of the British Council in Montenegro, and the Deputy Prime Minister visited the students participating in the final national competition in microbite coding and spoke with them about their ideas and projects.
In his introductory speech, DPM Abazović pointed out that he was grateful to the British Council for developing such a project in Montenegro and other countries in the region, stating that young people were given an opportunity that they took, which is an additional motive for all of us, but also the obligation of the Government of Montenegro to even more strongly support digital literacy, technological development and the information society, which we should use in the future as our comparative advantage.
I am impressed by what I saw and I am happy to be with you today. I am pleasantly surprised by how creative our children are, how much they understand the problems of the community and how much they keep up with the times, which can serve as an example to adults, Abazović emphasised.
The Deputy Prime Minister concluded that the quality of developing human resources and digital literacy of citizens from an early age will mean a great resource that Montenegro should use in the future.
