Abazović, Spasovski: We will strengthen cooperation in the fight against organized crime

Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović met with Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia Oliver Spasovski. The meeting was an opportunity to confirm the excellent cooperation between the two countries and express readiness for its further deepening. The excellent cooperation between the police of the two countries was emphasized, which is evidenced by the fact that the first visit of Minister of the Interior of Montenegro Sergej Sekulović was to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia. The meeting noted that the basis of cooperation between the ministries of internal affairs of the two countries are concluded agreements between the two ministries.

Minister Spasovski pointed out that the fight against organized crime, terrorism, illegal migration and human trafficking, as well as cybercrime, are fields in which cooperation and exchange of information and experiences between the countries of the region are necessary. Spasovski said that relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and Montenegro are an example of successful cooperation between countries that do not have open issues.

DPM Abazović expressed Montenegro's readiness to put its capacities to implement the obligations from Chapters 23 and 24, as well as professional expertise and experience during the negotiation process with the EU at North Macedonia's disposal.

The exchange of information and experiences on the fight against organized crime and corruption will be to the benefit of both countries, which have a clear goal to provide a better future for their citizens, said Deputy Prime Minister Abazović.

Abazović noted that European integration cannot be successful if the fight against organized crime and corruption is not successful, referring to the process of closing the negotiating chapters 23 and 24.

Furthermore, DPM Abazović said that Montenegro and North Macedonia can improve cooperation in the field of tourism and invited tourists from North Macedonia to spend the upcoming summer in Montenegro.

Deputy Prime Minister Abazović invited Minister Spasovski to visit Montenegro, stressing fraternal relationship between the two countries.

The Ambassador of Montenegro to the Republic of North Macedonia, H. E. Marija Petrović, also attended the meeting.
