Abazović visits Montenegrin emigrant associations in North Macedonia
During his two-day visit to the Republic of North Macedonia, Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović met with representatives of two Montenegrin emigrant associations in Skopje. Ambassador of Montenegro to the Republic of North Macedonia, H. E. Marija Petrović and First Secretary at the Embassy of Montenegro Ivana Šikmanović attended the meetings.
At the meeting with the representatives of the Montenegrin community in North Macedonia, President Boris Popivoda and members Jadranka Dabović and Emir Kočan, DPM Abazović said that the Government of Montenegro expresses respect for our diaspora and its activities in North Macedonia and stressed that we should all make an effort to nobly represent Montenegro in the world. Abazović said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Directorate for Diaspora will pay more attention to emigrants in the coming period, and that the Deputy Prime Minister's Office is open to all their ideas that will bring strenghten and further develop relations between North Macedonia and Montenegro.
President of the Montenegrin community in the Republic of North Macedonia Boris Popivoda informed DPM Abazović about the history of the Montenegrin community in Macedonia, its activities, the main problems they face and priorities in future activities. The meeting discussed the possibilities of deepening economic cooperation with businesspeople in the Republic of North Macedonia who are part of the Montenegrin community.
At a meeting with representatives of the Association of Montenegrin Emigrants in the Republic of North Macedonia, its President Medo Balić, Vice President Zoran Popović and Secretary Faruk Omeragić, Abazović said that Montenegrin emigrants in the Republic of North Macedonia enjoy Government's respect and full support in their further work. Abazović told the representatives of the Association of emigrants that Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović undertook the obligation to strengthen relations with the diaspora and that the institutions will be in daily contact with them. The Deputy Prime Minister said that there is a huge potential for the diaspora to make a very large contribution to the development of certain municipalities in the north of Montenegro and that the Government will work on the economic relations between those regions and their diaspora.
Representatives of the Association of emigrants informed DPM Abazović about the position of our emigrants ahead of the census that will take place in North Macedonia this year. The meetings were an opportunity for Deputy Prime MInister Abazović to discuss current topics and intensify economic and cultural cooperation between Montenegro and North Macedonia with representatives of the Montenegrin community and the Association of emigrants from Montenegro.
