Prime Minister Dritan Abazović took part in the 26th Annual Economist Government Roundtable entitled "Antitheses, transformations and achievements in a changing world". Russia's aggression and undermining the international order show the importance of stability and the European future of the Western Balkans region, said PM Abazović.

Speaking at the panel "Southeast Europe: Can there be stability and prosperity in the region?", Prime Minister Abazović emphasised that joining the EU is the best possible option in promoting stability, prosperity and security not only in the region, but also beyond.

The key factor for stability is the strengthening of the transatlantic link and closer cooperation between the United States and the European Union. Montenegro's key foreign policy goal is to become a full EU member, while cherishing good neighbourly relations, said PM Abazović.

Prime Minister Abazović said that the Western Balkans, hypothetically left outside the EU, would become attractive for various competitions of great powers.

The panel discussed the implications for the region following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the energy crisis and the EU accession negotiations.

Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti, Special Envoy to the Western Balkans Stuart Peach, and former foreign ministers of Greece Dora Bakoyannis and George Katrougkalos also took part in the aforementioned panel.
