Abazović takes part in EU-Western Balkans Summit
Prime Minister Dritan Abazović participated in the EU-Western Balkans Summit organised by Friends of Europe in Brussels.
When the Western Balkans are united, it is easier to reach the goal. Let us move forwatd together, it's not complicated. This was particularly evident in New York and Berlin, where we managed to obtain a package of support worth one billion euros, the Prime Minister emphasised.
Speaking about the Western Balkans, Abazović stated that it is necessary for the countries of the Western Balkans to remain focused on the EU agenda, stressing that over 80% of Montenegrin citizens still strongly support the European perspective of our country.
Abazović made it clear that the EU should understand one simple thing – the EU should also remain attractive to the countries of the Western Balkans, especially after Brexit and Russian aggression against Ukraine. If they don't, everyone loses. Not only the countries of the Western Balkans, he added.
I see more and more young people who are elected to state or local parliament. It is important for the Western Balkans that we have young people with new ideas, because if we have more young people with old ideas, despite all the circumstances, we will not change, said PM Abazović.
Discussing current relations in the Western Balkans, Abazović said that communication improves relations and understanding even when there is no consensus on a certain topic.
He added that the greater mobility and the fight against corruption will change the overall situation in the Western Balkans. The fight against corruption is the fight against nationalism - less corruption means less nationalism. With better infrastructure, we will have greater mobility.
President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski and President of Albania Edi Rama also delivered opening remarks.
