Prime Minister Dritan Abazović took part in the third edition of the Prespa Forum Dialogue in Struga, North Macedonia.

Presidents, Prime Ministers, officials and experts from the Western Balkans and the EU gathered for the Prespa Forum Dialogue 2023, hosted by the Government of North Macedonia.

Prime Minister Abazović, during his presentation at the session on regional cooperation, confirmed Montenegro's strong commitment to the European path, stressing country's full alignment with the EU's common foreign and security policy. We are committed to European values and democratic principles, which we show in our daily activities in terms of reforms in the areas of the judiciary and the rule of law, as the foundation of a stable and healthy society, said Abazović.

The Prime Minister emphasised the progress made within European integration process at the regional level, stressing that Montenegro is ready to share its experience in the negotiation process. Montenegro will be happy to help its neighbours and friends, because we have a clear vision that the entire region belongs to the European family. However, it is crucial that our European partners recognise the necessity of our membership, in order to complete a stable security framework in Europe, he emphasised. As he said, the region of the Western Balkans is very important for the EU, and a stronger commitment to the enlargement process is expected.

Pointing out that good-neighbourly relations and regional cooperation are one of Montenegro's top foreign policy priorities, Abazović said that the country remains committed to their improvement, especially in the area of improvement of tourist infrastructure, as well as other infrastructure projects of common importance. He also stated that Montenegro supports all forms of regional association aimed at promoting regional cooperation and speeding up the EU enlargement process. This, he said, is evidenced by our current chairmanship of three important regional initiatives – SEECP, CEFTA and DPPI.

The Forum’s Agenda included, inter alia, discussions on the pressing regional and European political-security issues, the Western Balkans integration processes to the EU, the perspectives of strengthening regional cooperation and good-neighborly relations, the fight against corruption, etc.
