Bečić's message on International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Today, as we observe the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we pay tribute to all the victims of the crime that will be remembered as one of the darkest chapters in human history.

On this day, we mark the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and remember the millions of victims who inspired humanity with their unyielding spirit and boundless strength of hope and forgiveness against the destructive force.

Our moral responsibility, not only today but every day, is to pay homage to the fallen victims and to nurture the memory of them.

It is our responsibility to acknowledge the brave righteous individuals who risked their lives to save others and to ensure that the memory of the most heinous crime of the last century serves as a warning to all future generations.

The past cannot be corrected, but we must draw lessons from it. By opposing every form of intolerance and anti-Semitism, we ensure that there is no place for hostility and animosity, and that such crimes must never happen again.

We reaffirm our strong commitment to building a better future based on the values of justice, equality, and diversity, which empower all democratic societies, and we condemn any attempt to ignore or deny history.
