Bureau for Operational Coordination holds session in its new composition

The Bureau for Operational Coordination of Intelligence and Security Sector Bodies held the fifth session in its new composition. In addition to the members of the Bureau, the session was attended by Minister of the Interior Danilo Šaranović, Director of the Police Directorate Zoran Brđanin, Acting Assistant Director of the Police Directorate for the Sector for Combating Crime Lazar Šćepanović, and as part of the thematic agenda item, Minister of Finance Novica Vuković, as well as the general directors of the directorates in the ministries of finance and the interior responsible for public procurement.

The Bureau noted that the level of cooperation and mutual trust among intelligence and security sector bodies is at an all-time high. This enhanced cooperation, alongside collaboration with the prosecution and international partners, has led to historic actions and impressive results, particularly in the fight against organised crime and corruption.

The Bureau especially highlights and commends three major successful operations carried out by the security sector in recent days, between the two Bureau sessions. The first operation, codenamed "General," was one of the largest recent actions conducted in collaboration with the Special State Prosecutor's Office and international partners. The second operation resolved a hostage situation involving 11 kidnapped migrants who were freed. In the third operation, conducted in cooperation with Albanian police, three plantations with over 11,000 marijuana plants were seized.

The Bureau endorses the initiative of the Minister of the Interior to form a working group that will prepare urgent amendments to the Law on Road Traffic Safety.

BOK

With the participation of Minister of Finance Novica Vuković, topics were discussed regarding the improvement of the normative framework for conducting public procurement procedures for the needs of intelligence and security sector bodies, aiming to increase efficiency and functionality in their work.

We also supported and affirmed the intensive activities of the Ministry of the Interior on amending the Law on Internal Affairs, which will create a basis for addressing the issue of the personnel deficit of police officers. This will also serve as a foundation for further strengthening the Ministry of the Interior and the Police Directorate.

In accordance with the conclusions from previously held sessions, in coordination with the Ministry of Justice, activities have been initiated to begin drafting a bylaw in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code, which will create a basis for effective control of the execution and compliance with the supervision measures of accused persons.

The Bureau reviewed other issues within its jurisdiction, which will be communicated to the public in the next announcement tomorrow due to the volume of information considered.
