Business Forum between Italy and Montenegro set for early summer

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić concluded his first official visit to Rome with a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Antonio Tajani, who reaffirmed Italy’s strong support for Montenegro’s European path and the overall progress of the country.
Following up on his earlier discussions with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister Spajić and Minister Tajani agreed to hold a Montenegro–Italy Business Forum in early summer. Opportunities are there—we must seize them to grow our economies and strengthen our bilateral relations, the two officials agreed.
The meeting also included discussions on the current security landscape in Europe, with a shared emphasis on the importance of Montenegro’s alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, particularly in the context of support for Ukraine.
Prime Minister Spajić emphasized that Montenegro’s position is clear. Montenegro is a reliable, credible and predictable partner—one that others can count on, he added.
Speaking on developments in the Western Balkans, the Prime Minister noted that EU membership prospects and economic growth are key stabilizing factors, and reaffirmed Montenegro’s ambition to join the European Union during Italy’s presidency in early 2028.
Deputy Prime Minister Tajani expressed full support for Montenegro’s ambitions and assured that Italy will remain a strong ally on that path.
He also extended an invitation to Prime Minister Spajić to participate in the upcoming Italofonia.
