The Government of Montenegro will establish the first Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC) within the Institute of Public Health. The objective of establishing the PHEOC is to strengthen preparedness and response capacities for public health emergencies.

The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed that timely information sharing, strategic coordination and efficient management of resources are critical elements of an effective response to public health emergencies. A functioning PHEOC plays a vital role in coordinating partners responding to public health threats and emergencies.

With EU-funded Centre for Control and Prevention of Infectious Diseases, the first of its kind in the Western Balkans, Montenegro will be better prepared for any future pandemic.
