Ivanović, Mirzoyan: Strengthening bilateral cooperation and political dialogue

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović is paying an official visit to the Republic of Armenia, where he met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan.

In his opening remarks, Ivanović expressed great pleasure at being in Yerevan for the first time and having the opportunity to discuss mutual interests, deepening relations, and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

Special emphasis was placed on tourism, with Ivanović highlighting Montenegro’s efforts to introduce additional flights between Montenegro and Yerevan during the summer season, which would significantly improve connectivity and tourism exchanges between the two nations.

Mirzoyan expressed gratitude for the visit and emphasized that Armenia regards Montenegro as a leader in the European integration process, noting that there is much Armenia can learn from Montenegro’s experience.

He further stated that several Armenian companies are keen on expanding international cooperation, particularly with friendly nations, opening up possibilities for further discussions on business opportunities. In this regard, Ivanović proposed specific areas of interest for Armenian companies and underscored the need to connect business entities from both countries through collaboration between chambers of commerce and business associations. He also noted that there is potential for Armenian products to be introduced to the Montenegrin market, which could bring mutual economic benefits.

The meeting also addressed education and technological innovation, where Ivanović emphasized the possibility of opening a TUMO Center for Creative Technologies in Podgorica. Mirzoyan welcomed this initiative, highlighting that TUMO Centers are present in many countries and that their establishment in Montenegro would be a significant step forward in digital education and creative technology.

Discussions also covered European integration, with Ivanović emphasizing that Montenegro is making tangible progress in this process. Mirzoyan reiterated Armenia’s commitment to implementing necessary reforms, noting that Montenegro’s support would be highly valuable.

The two officials also exchanged views on current geopolitical developments.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Mirzoyan thanked Ivanović for his visit and expressed confidence that cooperation between Montenegro and Armenia would continue to grow and strengthen in the future.

As part of his visit, Ivanović laid a wreath at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex, paying tribute to those who lost their lives. He also visited a street in Yerevan named after Titograd, where he laid flowers as a symbol of the enduring friendship between Montenegro and Armenia.
