Defence and Security Council holds session

The Defence and Security Council held a session today, chaired by President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović. Members of the Council, President of the Parliament Aleksa Bečić and Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić, as well as Minister of Defence Olivera Injac participated in the work of the session.

At today's session, the Defence and Security Council, at the suggestion of the Minister of Defence, promoted Colonel Milutin Đurović to the rank of Brigadier General and appointed him Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Montenegro. Colonel Željko Radulović has been appointed Deputy Chief of General Staff. The former Chief of the General Staff, Major General Dragutin Dakić, was relieved of his duties due to fulfilling the conditions for retirement.

The session discussed the Report on the participation of members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro in international forces, peacekeeping missions and other activities abroad. The Council accepted the Report and stated that by participating in international exercises, members of the Armed Forces improved their abilities, gained new experiences and knowledge that they adopted from partners and allies, which they later apply in performing regular tasks in all three missions of the Armed Forces of Montenegro. In addition to performing regular tasks, members of the Armed Forces have made a huge contribution to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic through cooperation with other institutions. The members of the Council were acquainted with the 2020 Report on the Armed Forces of Montenegro.

The Defence and Security Council discussed other issues within its competence and, at the proposal of the Minister of Defence, made decisions on dismissals of officers in the Armed Forces of Montenegro who have fulfilled the condition for retirement.
