Published on: Jun 2, 2021 12:15 PM Author: Office of the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić attended the session of the Committee for marking the 50th anniversary of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. The session, chaired by the President of the Academy, Academician Dragan K. Vukčević, was also attended by President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, President of the Parliament Aleksa Bečić, and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vesna Bratić.

Prime Minister Krivokapić said that the Academy, as a Temple of Wisdom, sees all the successes and failures of its people.

It gathers all its temptations and proposes solutions through proven professionalism, but also conscientious patriotism. Your knowledge, competencies and exceptional wisdom are not subject to political changes and daily prejudices, but to truthful scientific facts and conscientious care for the preservation of all the values that Montenegro has. Your mission remains the foundation and memory of the point where we started as a nation and the answer to where we need to go, said Prime Minister Krivokapić.

The Prime Minister said that Montenegro and its citizens are at a historical turning point. We have already made steps towards new approaches of modern democracy, towards new areas of achieved civil liberties and rights, without giving up on the European path and the European perspective. As Prime Minister, I deeply care about your opinion, your proposals and conclusions on all issues that are open or will be opened, and which aim to improve and enrich our overall social life, and thus our general community and state. As the Government, we want to take full note of your academic goodwill and wisdom, which is important for civic reconciliation and unity, civic solidarity and inclusion, as well as prosperity, which must not be called into question by particularism, subjectivism, irrationality or narrow-mindedness, said PM Krivokapić.

The Prime Minister also said that he wanted today's gathering to result in the fruitful work of the Committee, which will mark the jubilee in a dignified way - 50 years since the founding of Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Fifty years in which it was necessary to plough, sow, reap fifty times – to gather the fruits of the greatest harvesters, builders, scientists, researchers and artists that this nation has. I wish you successful work and I want you to know that the current Government is aware of the importance of this Institution, that it is ready to contribute in this and other projects, which we see as a sustainable investment in the future of our descendants, said Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić.
