Defence and Security Council holds session
The Defence and Security Council held a session today, chaired by President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović. Members of the Council, President of the Parliament Aleksa Bečić and Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić, as well as Minister of Defence Olivera Injac participated in the session.
At today's session, the Council discussed the Proposal of the Decision on Amendments to the Decision on Deploying Units of the Armed Forces of Montenegro to the NATO Response Force (NRF). From the beginning of 2022, part of the units of the Armed Forces of Montenegro will be part of the forces of the NRF. Having in mind the above and the importance of this type of contribution to the collective security system, it is planned to increase the number of members from the current 30 to up to 40 members of the Armed Forces, which confirms Montenegro's commitment to the Alliance. The Council adopted the Draft Decision which will be submitted to the Parliament of Montenegro for adoption.
The Council adopted the Decision on declaring the unit for radiological, chemical and biological (RCB) decontamination for the implementation of activities within the NATO Response Force (NRF). The engagement of the declared unit is planned with the Slovenian HBRNO unit, which will contribute to building the credibility of a reliable partner in the Alliance and improve the professional knowledge and operational capabilities of the Armed Forces of Montenegro.
At today's session, the Defence and Security Council discussed other issues within its competence and, at the proposal of the Minister of Defence, made decisions on the appointment of officers in the Armed Forces of Montenegro.
