Deputy Prime Minister Zogović opens European Individual Chess Championship

Deputy Prime Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Milun Zogović, along with the President of the European Chess Union Zurab Azmaiparashvili, opened the European Individual Chess Championship in Petrovac.

The championship, bringing together over 400 participants from across Europe, represents the premier European chess event of 2024.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Zogović expressed honor at the opportunity to host this prestigious event. He highlighted that chess holds a special place in Montenegrin history, recalling that the great Montenegrin poet and ruler, Petar II Petrović Njegoš, was the first known Montenegrin chess player. His legacy inspires us to seek wisdom and inspiration in both chess and life.
