DPM Ivanović meets with Ambassador of Serbia to Montenegro Nebojša Rodić

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović met today with Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro Nebojša Rodić.

In an open and cordial dialogue, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to fostering good neighbourly relations, further strengthened by shared European goals and regional cooperation.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the current situation in northern Kosovo, expressing concern over ongoing interethnic tensions.

Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović emphasised the importance of finding sustainable solutions through dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, under the auspices of the European Union. He underscored Montenegro's firm support for the peaceful resolution of disputes, stressing the need to respect the rights of the Serbian community in northern Kosovo and expressing hope for the de-escalation of tensions and a political solution that would preserve peace and stability in the region.

Ambassador Rodić presented Serbia's five-point plan aimed at improving the living conditions of the Serbian community. He also reaffirmed Serbia's commitment to maintaining peace and stability, stating that the country will take all necessary steps to prevent further deterioration of the security situation.

Both sides concluded that dialogue and cooperation, with respect for the rights of all communities, are key elements for the long-term resolution of issues and the preservation of regional stability. They expressed mutual hope that efforts in this direction will yield constructive results.
