DPM Koprivica meets with newly appointed EU Ambassador to Montenegro Johann Sattler
Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Justice, and Anti-Corruption Momo Koprivica met today with the newly appointed Ambassador of the European Union to Montenegro Johann Sattler.
Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica warmly welcomed Ambassador Sattler, expressing strong confidence that the EU Delegation will continue to be a constructive partner in dynamically monitoring the implementation of reforms in the negotiation process, which is of great importance for Montenegro.
Koprivica highlighted the excellent cooperation Montenegro had with the previous EU Ambassador and expressed optimism that this collaboration would continue in the future. He reiterated the government’s goal to close all negotiation chapters by the end of its mandate and fully align the legal system with the EU acquis. Our goal is to be a leading example in the Western Balkans and the next EU member state, Koprivica added.
The Ambassador praised Montenegro's progress in the European integration process and emphasised the EU's commitment to the enlargement policy. He conveyed the readiness to contribute to the successful conclusion of the negotiation process and Montenegro's accession to the EU as soon as possible.
During the meeting, Koprivica stressed the importance of reforms in the judiciary, strengthening mechanisms for integrity checks of senior executive officials, preventing conflicts of interest, and the overall anti-corruption framework. Koprivica, who also chairs the National Anti-Corruption Council, highlighted the significance of fully implementing the Anti-Corruption Strategy. He noted that the strategy, along with successful judicial appointments and adopted laws, was crucial for Montenegro receiving a positive IBAR, something the country had not achieved in the past ten years. Koprivica also outlined the government's work on implementing GRECO recommendations, emphasising the need for comprehensive fulfillment.
The two officials exchanged views on various domestic and regional frameworks aimed at strengthening cooperation across all sectors.
