Ibrahimović - Mainl-Reisinger: Austria views Montenegro as the next EU member
Montenegro and Austria are friendly nations, committed to the continuous strengthening of bilateral relations, as agreed today in a telephone conversation between the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Mr. Ervin Ibrahimović, and the Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Beate Mainl-Reisinger.
Discussions were held on current issues from the bilateral agenda, with the assessment that there is mutual interest in further enhancing economic cooperation, as well as intensifying contacts in all areas of common interest.
Particular attention was paid to Montenegro's European Union accession process. Minister Ibrahimović expressed gratitude for Austria's continuous political and expert support, emphasizing the important role and contribution to the affirmation of the "Friends of the Western Balkans" group activities.
Minister Mainl-Reisinger stated that Austria views Montenegro as the next member of the European Union. She praised the commitment and progress achieved in implementing reforms, and stressed that Montenegro can count on Austria's full support in the continuation of the EU accession process.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on current regional and global challenges, and expressed their readiness to continue dialogue at all levels, with the aim of further strengthening interstate relations.
