Yerevan: Bilateral political consultations held between Montenegro and the Republic of Armenia
Bilateral political consultations between Montenegro and the Republic of Armenia were held today in Yerevan, led by the state secretaries of the two foreign ministries, Periša Kastratović from the Montenegrin side and Vahan Kostanyan from the Armenian side.
It was assessed that the relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Armenia are friendly, with significant potential for enhancing cooperation in numerous areas of mutual interest.
State Secretary Kastratović expressed his belief that intensifying high-level political dialogue will give new impetus to deepening contacts and more dynamic cooperation at all levels.
In the context of current geopolitical events and challenges on the regional and international stage, Ambassador Kastratović informed about Montenegro's contribution, as a responsible NATO member, to regional and European stability, emphasizing the commitment to the goal of becoming the next member of the European Union. In this context, he conveyed strong support for Armenia's European aspirations and confirmed Montenegro's readiness to share experiences and best practices from the negotiation process.
He expressed satisfaction with the increase in the number of Armenian tourists who visited Montenegro last year, thanks to improved transport connectivity through the introduction of seasonal charter flights, the continuation of which has been agreed for the upcoming season.
Considering Armenia's notable role as a regional center for innovation and the development of new technologies, he expressed interest in cooperation and the transfer of the best Armenian experiences in these areas.
It was mutually assessed that cooperation at the local level represents an important aspect of the overall relations between the two countries, as confirmed by the traditionally good ties between the two friendly cities, Podgorica and Yerevan, which date back to the 1970s. In this regard, State Secretary Kastratović pointed out the possibilities and importance of further strengthening cooperation, and conveyed the strong support of the Capital City for the renewal of the Podgorica-Yerevan Friendship Agreement.
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also met today in Yerevan with the Chairman of the Friendship Group with Montenegro in the Armenian Parliament, Arsen Torosyan, and members of the Group, Gegham Manukyan and Mariam Pogosyan. The interlocutors agreed that there is exceptional potential for inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, and exchanged views on the importance of strengthening economic cooperation, the European integration process, as well as current regional and global issues.
