Krivokapić, Dačić: Historical ties and excellent economic relations are the foundation of future cooperation between Montenegro and Serbia
Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia have excellent economic relations, on the basis of which they can upgrade mutual cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, it was concluded at the meeting of Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić.
Prime Minister Krivokapić expressed his gratitude to Mr. Dačić for the warm reception. He emphasised the importance of cooperation between the two parliaments in the field of European integration and in that context welcomed the recommendation of the European Commission to open two new clusters in the accession negotiations with Serbia.
Montenegro will continue to be a constructive partner in achieving the common integration goal. From our perspective, the integration of the Western Balkan countries into the EU has no alternative, and we are convinced that strengthening the security and safety of the region is a key precondition for our further progress in the integration process, the Prime Minister said.
Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić thanked the Prime Minister for his visit to Belgrade and emphasised that Serbia has no closer state than Montenegro, and that this fact should be turned into a comparative advantage when it comes to interstate relations between Montenegro and Serbia.
The officilas stressed the importance of historical ties and the common European perspective of Montenegro and Serbia and expressed the belief that relations between the two countries will serve as an example of good neighborly cooperation in the future.
