Ministry of capital investments partner in the MED OSMoSIS project

The Ministry of Capital Investments is a partner in the MED OSMoSIS project together with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of Greece, Abruzzo region (ABREG), Italy, Institute for Marine Sciences, Spain, Valenciaport Foundation, Spain, Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, Portugal

Naval Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service, France, Interdomal Navla Cluster, Croatia and Plovput, Croatia.

MED OSMoSIS is a project funded by the Interreg MED program, aimed at developing modules related to maritime surveillance and information exchange that support the development of a regional / local smart component that provides regionally available mobile connectivity and supports interoperable sectoral systems in Mediterranean and the Atlantic area.

Main results of the project:

  • 2 policy recommendations will be made; one for the EU and the other for IPA countries
  • Memorandum of Understanding among partners to support capitalization

The project will develop 4 pilot studies:

  • Search and rescue planning - in Greece and Spain
  • Improving cycle management - in Italy
  • Development of a navigation warning module, together with a joint information exchange district for the Hydrographic Office - in France
  • Development of an operational patrol tool, as well as the utilization of applications and websites for the register, advice, inventory and reporting on the movement and incidents of small ships - in Portugal

At the end of the project, the expected results will include innovative maritime surveillance solutions, capitalization on pilot projects, as well as the establishment of a list of maritime surveillance platforms.

The total budget of the Ministry for this project is € 82,000.00, of which the EU grant is € 69,700.00, and the national co-financing is € 12,300.00. The total budget for all partners in the MED OSMOSIS project is € 3,000,000.00.
