Montenegro and Austria should strengthen agricultural cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Joković met today with Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Montenegro Karl Müller.

The Ambassador congratulated Minister Joković on his appointment and expressed belief that they would continue and improve cooperation during his term of office.

Minister Joković expressed satisfaction regarding the meeting and assessed that further cooperation will contribute to the improvement of relations between the two friendly countries, pointing out the potential for increasing investments in the agri-food industry, emphasising that the Government of Montenegro will create a favourable framework to support them.

Joković informed the Ambassador about the activities in the field of agriculture, forestry and water management, as well as the current status of fulfilling the agenda of negotiating chapters 11, 12 and 13.

The Ambassador expressed readiness to share the experience of the Republic of Austria in the EU accession process, as well as in other areas important for the agricultural sector.

Minister Joković emphasised that the experience of Austria as an EU member state is of exceptional importance for the Montenegro's EU accession process and expressed gratitude for Austria's readiness to share its experience.

The two officials agreed that there is room for improving cooperation in the field of agriculture, especially in the northern region, in the field of livestock, agritourism and forestry.

Both sides confirmed their readiness to further strengthen and improve cooperation between Austria and Montenegro, through business cooperation, economic activity and trade.
