Montenegro is an important factor in balancing relations in the region

Prime Minister Dritan Abazović met with Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia in charge of European Affairs Bojan Maricikj on the margins of the annual Southeastern Europe Democracy Summit (SEE / DEM) in Budva, organised by the International Republican Institute. The two officials assessed that Montenegro and the Republic of North Macedonia have excellent cooperation, they support each other and cherish the same values.

Abazović and Maricikj agreed that good relations between the two countries were further strengthened by productive political cooperation and communication last year.

Montenegro is an important factor in balancing relations in the region. Therefore, we are especially looking forward to your attendance at the meeting of the Open Balkan Initiative next week in Ohrid, said Maricikj, emphasising that the support of the Government of Montenegro is important for European integration.

We believe in your Government, said the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia.

Prime Minister Abazović informed DPM Maricikj about the results achieved on the path to European integration, especially in Chapters 23 and 24.

We have carried out actions that are unexpected for Montenegro and I believe that we will make progress in the area of the rule of law. The European Union recognises our efforts, but we also expect it to adequately valorise them, he pointed out.

It was jointly assessed that cooperation in all fields should be further improved. Prime Minister Abazović reiterated Montenegro's readiness, as a leader in European integration, to help the Republic of North Macedonia meet its European agenda, as both countries are on the same path and striving for the same, Western values.
