Montenegro remains committed to meeting objectives of the European Agenda
A delegation of the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism led by Minister Ratko Mitrović, together with Acting Director General of the Directorate for EU Integration, International Cooperation and Climate Change Jovana Žarić, participated in the Informal Meeting of Environment Ministers in Ljubljana.
The meeting was an opportunity to define achievements and future steps to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions ahead of the COP26 International Climate Change Conference.
In an informal discussion, the ministers highlighted, among other things, the finalisation of the Paris Agreement rulebook, and thus the ambitious agreement on Article 6, and the agreement on reporting and transparency rules referred to in Article 13 of the Paris Agreement, as important elements for the success of the Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. Mobilising public as well as private finance will also play an important role in reaching an agreement in relation to other important agenda items such as adapting to climate change and addressing loss and damage.
In accordance with the above, it was pointed out that Montenegro remains committed to meeting the goals of the European Agenda, as well as international obligations in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while clearly accepting responsibility in the implementation of the set goals.
