PM Krivokapić on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of Montenegro as an ecological state

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of Montenegro as an ecological state, Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić reminded of Montenegro's natural beauty, noting that Montenegro was and remains not only a "throne of freedom" (as Tennyson wrote), but also a "throne of beauty".

Bearing in mind the importance of Montenegro's natural harmony, the Government launched an initiative to revive this, as the Prime Minister said, irreplaceable and eternal idea of the ecological state of Montenegro.

This is contributed not only by the campaign "Every leaf, every drop", launched by the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, but also by the joint efforts of the entire Government to improve the national economy, with the aim of harmonising our environmental policies with EU standards and legislation, which will consequently affect the development and encouragement of renewable energy sources, protection of biodiversity, transition toward a circular economy, sustainable business, cleaner production and consumption, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, etc.

In this regard, the Government of Montenegro will be unreservedly committed to work on Chapter 27, as one of the key challenges in terms of implementation of the acquis communautaire in the field of environment and climate change. Equally, this Government will not allow the cover-up of so-called black ecological points, or the opening of new ones, by devastating our ecological pearls, as is the case with the Tara riverbed, caused by certain irresponsible bodies and unscrupulous individuals.

The Prime Minister reminded that, along with our hardworking and honest people, the environment is "our most important and lasting resource", which must be protected.
