PM Krivokapić pays a visit to Berane
Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić and Minister of Public Administration, Digital Society and Media Tamara Srzentić paid a visit to the municipality of Berane, where they met with President of the Municipality Tihomir Bogavac and members of the local self-government.
Prime Minister Krivokapić pointed out that the problem of all economic problems of Montenegro, including the north, is infrastructural disconnection and inaccessibility, and that one of the most serious and challenging goals of the current Government is local, regional and transregional infrastructure network and finding strong and reliable foreign investors.
I am familiar with the problem of usurping the space that belongs to Berane Airport, which must be solved. We want to revive this airport because it has a phenomenal position and we are already recognised as an air destination that could achieve a significantly higher tourist income, Krivokapić said.
Prime Minister Krivokapić emphasised the importance of Government's commitment to follow the green strategy, and that natural resources are renewable only if citizens and the entire community develop a healthy and careful approach towards the environment.
The approach towards one of the greatest treasures of Montenegro, towards its centuries-old forests is dangerous and worrying, but we are determined to protect the national treasure, Krivokapić said.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the natural wealth of the north must be valorised, which will result in a balanced development of the north and south, but also that the relationship between economic progress and investment in children, in their education, health, sports and culture must be taken into account.
Expressing satisfaction that he was given the opportunity to host Prime Minister Krivokapić and Minister Srzentić, Municipality President Bogavac pointed out that the main problem of Berane, as well as the entire north of Montenegro, is the emigration of the population, and that it is urgent to make an investment programme, in order to bring this area economically closer to the results recorded by the central and southern regions.
Bogavac also noted the municipal initiative to start the procurement of magnetic resonance imaging, adding that they expect support from the Government, i.e. the Ministry of Health.
Minister Srzentić pointed out that she was happy that municipal leaders said that people and youth are the greatest treasure of Berane.
I am extremely glad to see that you are investing so much in youth and young talents, Srzentić said.
The Minister also emphasised that her department is citizen-centred and that it designs its policies and programmes according to the needs of citizens.
Vice President of the Municipality Darko Stojanović raised the issue of the Coal Mine as one of the key topics concerning the economy of Berane, as well as the financing of the project "Cites Center" - a shelter for smuggled animals.
