Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić spoke on the occasion of the Cabinet reshuffle. We publish his statement in its entirety.

Agreement of the holders of 3 electoral lists from 8 September 2020 is the starting point for strengthening political stability and accelerating the reform process.

The Cabinet reshuffle implies the fact that the next parliamentary elections will not be held before the regular deadline - that is, in 2024.

During this time, the Government and the parliamentary majority will work rapidly on Montenegro's accession to the European Union, as well as on other planned reforms to strengthen economic prosperity and legal security of citizens.

The political entities that constitute the government and the Government of Montenegro put a moratorium on all issues that do not have a broad social consensus and deeply divide Montenegrin society.

After the election of the Prosecutorial Council and the Cabinet reshuffle, the Parliament of Montenegro will give priority to all legal acts proposed by the Government.

The rule of law and the fight against organised crime and corruption are key tasks for all three branches of government.

The constituents of the new government should be strengthened with the participation of representatives of national minority parties.

The improvement of the work of the Government and the Parliament of Montenegro through their constitutional relationship will be ensured by the Cabinet reshuffle on the following principles:

1. The Prime Minister decides which ministers have responded to the challenges of the ministries they head.

2. The Cabinet will have 3 Deputy Prime Ministers. The current Deputy Prime Minister will be the First Deputy Prime Minister, and all Deputy Prime Ministers will also be line ministers. Nomination of the Deputy Prime Ministers is an autonomous right of the Prime Minister.

3. Departments that have proven to be large in terms of their functionality will be divided in accordance with the agreement of the Prime Minister and the parliamentary majority.

4. When forming new departments, due care will be taken to ensure that they contribute to fulfilling Montenegro's European agenda as soon as possible.

5. Candidates for new ministers are proposed by the Prime Minister after consultations with the parliamentary majority, especially taking into account last year's agreement of the holders of 3 electoral lists, competence and gender equality, said Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić.
